Admission - General Physics Master

The applicant must fulfil the following requirements for admission:

General Admission Requirements:

  • To be of Saudi nationality or to have an official scholarship if the applicant is non-Saudi.
  • To have a university degree with a general grade of no less than good from a Saudi university or another equivalent accredited university.
  • The applicant must have the required score on the general aptitude test for university graduates (65) as a minimum for academic programs.
  • To obtain a written undertaking of approval from the employer if the applicant is an employee.
  • English language proficiency (TOEFL-IBT 32-34, IELTS 4.5, STEP 52-57).
  • To submit two recommendation letters from staff members who taught him/her.
  • To be medically and morally eligible.

Admission written test.

Criteria for Selection Between Applicants

  • Overall bachelor’s rate is 40%
  • General Aptitude Test for University Graduates 30%
  • Admission written test conducted by the department: 30%

Important Notes:

  • The Council of the Deanship of Graduate Studies, based on the Department Council recommendation and College Council approval, may accept applicants with grade below ‹Good› in some programs specified by the University Council, provided that the applicant's average grade in the Bachelor’s majoring courses is ‹Very Good› or better.
  • A student may be admitted to a master’s program in a field different from her/his major based on the concerned Department and College Councils recommendation, and the approval of the Council of the Deanship of Graduate Studies.
  • For admission to the master’s program, the concerned department may specify that the applicant must undertake several complementary courses from an earlier stage, in a period not more than three semesters, taking into consideration the following:
    • The complementary course must be first of a grade of ‘Good’ or better.
    • The cumulative GPA in the complementary courses must be ‘Very Good’ or better.
    • Passing the complementary courses before registering in the graduate studies program.
    • The period of the complementary courses is not included in the period specified for obtaining the degree.
    • The complementary courses are not included in the calculation of the cumulative GPA of graduate studies.
  • Deanship of Graduate Studies shall be responsible for the applicants’ admission and registration.
  • The student must not enrol in two graduate studies programs simultaneously.

Procedures for Saudi university teaching assistants and lecturers to apply for academic (general) graduate programs at the university.

  • They must submit their applications during the official admission period through the electronic admission system.
  • Electronic application is available provided that the applicant meets all the admission requirements for the desired program.
  • The teaching assistant/lecturer must provide a letter from their university (the relevant authority) addressed to King Abdulaziz University, including a financial guarantee (stating that their university will cover the full tuition fees of the program). This letter must be uploaded in the admission system during the electronic application process and within the official application period.
  • This category of applicants will be distinguished when applicant files are sent to the academic departments for evaluation.
  • The department head has the authority to accept applicants from this category in addition to the proposed number of admitted students during the selection process, based on the department's capacity.
  • If the department head agrees to admit the applicant in addition to the proposed number, the Deanship will proceed with the admission procedures.
